Exile on San Pedro Ave: King Corduroy Plays The Rolling Stones’ ‘Exile on Main St’ at Nightrocker Live in San Antonio
SAN ANTONIO, Texas (November 29, 2011) – Mal Thursday’s Texas Tyme Machine concert series, in association with Saustex Entertainment and Atomic Jukebox, presents “Exile on San Pedro Ave: King Corduroy Plays The Rolling Stones’ ‘Exile on Main St’” at Nightrocker Live in San Antonio on Friday December 9th at 9 p.m.
The Central Texas-based King Corduroy has previously staged live performances of The Stones’ classic 1972 double album in August at Momo’s in Austin, and last month at Uncle Billy’s Brewery & BBQ Lake Travis, where the performance was filmed for a live DVD. Joining them as special guests at the Nightrocker will be well-known San Antonio musicians Jeff Smith of The Hickoids, Hans Frank of Glambilly, and Michael Martin, with other special guests to be announced. Mal Thursday will host and DJ the event.
In addition to the San Antonio date, King Corduroy will also be presenting the show early next year in Houston and Dallas.
Mal Thursday’s Texas Tyme Machine concert series began last year as a live version of the internationally acclaimed podcast series of the same name. The most recent episode of the podcast, “San Antone Grown,” features a slew of South Texas bands past and present, with guest DJ Margaret Moser, commemorating the Texas Legacy Music Awards show at Floore’s Country Store this past September. The new season of the podcast starts in January with “The Joe King Carrasco and The Crowns Story,” as told by Carrasco himself. Previous episodes have featured interviews and career retrospectives of Roy Head, George Kinney of the Golden Dawn, and Jesse Sublett of The Skunks.
“Exile on San Pedro Ave: King Corduroy Plays The Rolling Stones' ‘Exile on Main St’” takes place at Nightrocker Live, 605 San Pedro Avenue, in San Antonio on Friday December 9th at 9 p.m.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Mal Thursday's Texas Tyme Machine Concert Series To Rock The Highball, Uncle Billy's Lake Travis
AUSTIN, Texas (April 14, 2011) – “Mal Thursday’s Texas Tyme Machine,” the Austin-based podcast and floating concert series, has announced upcoming dates at The Highball in South Austin and Uncle Billy's Lake Travis.
The Highball shows kick off with a series subtitled "Texas English," starting May 8th at 10 p.m. with a show headlined by cowpunk legends The Hickoids, whose latest full-length album, Kicking It With the Twits, is a collection of British rock covers from the likes of The Who, The Rolling Stones, and Mott the Hoople. Opening the show will be "Austin's ultimate Manfred Mann tribute band," Malfred Mal, which features Texas Tyme Machine impresario Mal Thursday as Paul Jones, with Eddy Best in the dual role of Mike Vickers and Mike D'Abo, Mike Coons as Jack Bruce, and Nathaniel Klugman as Manfred Mann.
The following week's Highball show, "Texas English II: Plague of the Zombies," is hosted by Mal Thursday, this time in the guise of Anthony Newley, performing selections from his one-man show, Stop the Crowd, I Want to Smell the World. The show is headlined by Houston's Chase Hamblin Band as The Zombies, with special guest karaoke from Lauren Silva as Dusty Springfield, Jolene as Lulu, and other chanteuses to be announced.
No cover charge for either show, although donations are appreciated.
MTTTM is also producing a series of free live shows at the new Uncle Billy's Lake Travis. The series debuted on April 9 with John Evans Band, and continues this Friday April 15th with An Evening with Opie Hendrix and the Texas Tallboys. Among the artists tentatively scheduled to appear under the Texas Tyme Machine banner on the top deck of the Brewery and BBQ palace are The Thunderchiefs, Southern Backtones, The Modern Don Juans, T. Tex Edwards, The Bellfuries, and The Sideshow Tramps.
Recent Austin shows at the Alamo Drafthouse Ritz (Teen A-Go-Go screening with The Ugly Beats) and Jovita's (George Kinney Wellness Jam/Benefit Concert) were great successes, and the Texas Tyme Machine series will be announcing more mixed media events, as well as more benefits, as part of the Summer series, which will also include dates in Houston and San Antonio.
